Fandango in the Park at Lathrop State Park

WALSENBURG — Local folklórico dance troupe El Fandango took to the woods for a special performance at the Lathrop State Park Amphitheatre. Despite the oppressive afternoon heat, six dancers — youth and adult — treated the audience to a beautiful display of Mexican art and tradition.

Over 50 people attended, and guests were invited to join the dancing at the end. One tiny audience member in authentic folklórico garb swayed in time to the rhythms, entranced by the performers.

“Keep coming to El Fandango performances,” organizers noted, “and you’ll be sure to see her up there in a few years waving her skirt and clicking her heels with the best of them.”
