When life gives you lemons…

WALSENBURG — When Walsenburg residents Lilly and Addi heard the Fox Theatre was broken into on Thursday morning, the two young ladies took it into their own hands to make a difference, and help the Fox recover from the robberies.

After some discussion as to how best to help, including selling a set of foster kittens, the girls settled on a previous life goal of opening a lemonade stand. They made their own signs, made the lemonade themselves, and shouted “Lemonade for the Fox Theatre” at everyone, from motorcycles, cars and pedestrians. There was no set price, each cup was available for a donation. Lilly’s sign also read, “If you don’t have money, lemonade is free.”

Aubry Lykins at the Crafty Canary was gracious enough to allow the girls to set up shop outside of the pub for several hours on a busy Saturday, July 9. In just three hours, the pair managed to raise $827, which was later presented to Fox executive director Mike Peters, and Fox enthusiasts Evan Ksander, George Ksander, Devin Hamon, and Shea Wootan.
