Museum of Friends sets November 7 gala for Roof & Dick Building

WALSENBURG, Colorado - Our neighbors at the Museum of Friends will host the fifth biennial Save the Roof & Dick Gala Fundraiser and Contemporary Art Sale on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 6 to 10 p.m. at 600 Main Street in Walsenburg.

The museum is raising a match for a June 2026 History Colorado grant to finish window restoration and replication on the historic Roof & Dick Building.

The evening includes a contemporary art sale, auction, and silent auction led by auctioneer Harold Vargas; music by Trio Lika Shubitidze, Archil Gheghechkori, and David Enke; and dancing with DJ Jeremie Dorrance. Aubrey Lykins and Crafty Canary will cater hors d’oeuvres. Each ticket includes one glass of wine or beer, with a cash bar for more.

The museum will honor artists Ben Morea Eagle and Joan Chipita. Barbara and Bruce Darden of Scheuber + Darden Architects will present Reimagining the Museum of Friends, on the building’s conversion from a department store into a community arts facility.

Individual tickets are $100. A table for 10 is $950. If you cannot attend, the museum asks people to buy tickets for participating artists, students, and servers. Tickets are on sale on the Museum of Friends website, or in person at the museum.

Sponsorships start at $1,000. Each level includes the benefits of the one before it.

$1,500 Visitor and subscriber emails Logo in the exhibit announcement sent to more than 1,900 visitors and patrons.

$1,750 Social posts and YouTube Weekly tagged acknowledgment, plus a featured post to more than 1,000 Facebook and Instagram followers.

$2,000 Member and supporter mailings Logo in the annual newsletter and printed exhibit announcements to 400-plus members and supporters.

$3,000 8-by-8 exhibit wall Logo on the 8-by-8 exhibit wall in the main-floor gallery during the event.

$5,000 Main-floor gallery Use of the main-floor gallery for a one-day event or artist exhibit, with staff support.

Cash and checks can be delivered or mailed to Museum of Friends, 600 Main Street, Walsenburg, CO 81089. Make checks payable to Museum of Friends with 2026 Gala Fundraiser Support in the memo. Card gifts can go through Colorado Gives for the Roof & Dick fund, PayPal Giving Fund, or Zeffy. Name the sponsorship level and that it is for the 2026 gala.

In-kind labor, goods, silent-auction items, and art-sale donations are welcome. Volunteers can stop in at the museum.
