The Phoenix Thunderbolt booms in Huerfano

WALSENBURG — “Carvinator” is blessing Walsenburg with a one night performance at The Fox Theatre. Carvin Jones, singer and guitarist of 30 years, is bringing his six string, the blues and rock and roll to town with a show starting at 8 p. m. Friday night.

Jones is a world renowned musician who has performed with several of the greats, including Santana and B. B. King; one can usually identify him by his edge and unique aesthetic; maybe sequined top, or even a sequined mask through the pandemic. Eric Clapton was once quoted in Guitarist magazine calling Jones a “next up and coming blues player.

” Jones weighs in, “I started playing at seven years old, and picked up the guitar while I would listen to B. B. King records. My career has been pretty blessed working with all the greats.

” Jones has played in over 39 countries, including Ireland, Spain, and even for the U. S. Troops stationed in Iraq and Kuwait. He has been through Walsenburg before, but he is excited to keep southern Colorado on his long list of venues by coming back tomorrow night.

Currently residing in Arizona, Jones originates from a small town near Dallas, Texas, making him no stranger to appreciating the small community within Huerfano County.
