Phase 2 revitalization work advances at the Fox Theatre

WALSENBURG, Colorado - The next stage of Phase 2 revitalization work is underway at the historic Fox Theatre in downtown Walsenburg.

This work focuses on strengthening and protecting the building while preserving the features that make the Fox an important part of the community. Work scheduled for the coming months includes structural repairs above the balcony, auditorium, and stage; ceiling repair and painting; basement drainage improvements; masonry and window work; exterior painting; and work on the theatre’s marquee sign.

Current structural work began during the week of August 24. Work above the balcony is scheduled through September, while work above the center of the theatre and stage is scheduled to continue into October. Ceiling work is planned from late September through October.

Basement drainage and repair work is scheduled from October through December. Exterior work, including brick, window, stucco, paint, roof, and marquee-sign tasks, is scheduled from late October into December.

The construction schedule can change as crews inspect existing conditions and complete required reviews. The schedule includes closeout activities in December, but it does not establish a public reopening date. The Fox will share confirmed milestones and any effects on public access as the work progresses.
