A multi-decade plan
The next steps for the Fox
Phase 2 is part of the Fox’s multi-decade revitalization plan. Phase 1 repaired the roof and strengthened its structure. This next stage reaches into the rest of the theatre: the beams above us, the ground below us, the brickwork, and the building systems.
Some of the most important work will disappear above the ceiling or below the ground. For now, we can show you how new timber meets old brick, and why those repairs matter to the next night we spend together at the Fox.

Up on the roof
The construction photos take us onto the roof during work on the heating and cooling system.

New timber, temporary supports and scaffolding fill the construction photos. The October 1 engineering visit identified connections and other work still to finish.

Water was still getting in at the September 30 visit. The plans call for drains, a sump pump and repairs below the room.

Electrical work serves the heating and cooling, stage lights and sump pump. Installation and testing still need confirmation.

Repair the brick, windows and marquee
These repairs appear in the design. The architect has requested masonry prices; the work that can go ahead depends on funding.

Finish the roof access
The October 16 schedule carries the roof hatch and new ladder into January 2027. The team needs to confirm the dates.

Complete the final checks
Finish the remaining work, resolve the punch list and confirm acceptance. The schedule’s November milestones and January tasks still need to agree.
The September 30 visit found water still coming into the basement. On October 21, our architect asked for prices for priority brickwork repairs and the full masonry work. How much can go ahead depends on the funding available.
The schedule updated October 16 carries basement work through January 11, 2027, and roof-hatch work through January 14. It also keeps earlier November completion and acceptance dates. The project team needs to settle those dates. There is no opening date to announce yet.

The next chapter
The next phase of revitalization
The beams, drains and plaster have a job to do before the lights go down. The next chapter includes seats, sound, access devices, the lobby and concessions. There are specific projects you can help move forward. We will share an opening date for the main auditorium when the work and required approvals are complete.
