A whole lot of help for the Fox

New timber, old brick, scaffolding, and a whole lot of ground opened up beside the Fox. The construction photographs give us plenty to look at. Behind that work are the people who helped get it this far.

October 20, 2026: new timber beside old brick, with a lot of help along the way.

Huerfano County owns the theatre and has partnered on its revitalization, including support through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. This project was funded in part with a grant from History Colorado, the State Historical Fund. Colorado Preservation, Inc. helps manage that grant.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Brownfields Program supports the asbestos and mold work. The Colorado Energy Office and Colorado Housing and Finance Authority have also supported Phase 2. Their help reaches into the practical parts of the building that make future use possible.

Gates Family Foundation, El Pomar Foundation, and the Edmund T. & Eleanor Quick Foundation have also supported Phase 2. So have community donors who have given to the Fox along the way.

Thank you for sticking with this building. Old theatres ask for patience, and this one has asked for plenty. The Fox means something to the people who have filled its seats, worked its shows, and helped keep it here on Main Street.

Spanish Peaks Community Foundation runs the Fox. Our goal is to bring people back together at 715 Main for movies, live shows and the nights that make a community theatre worth keeping.

There is more work to do, including repairs still being priced. There is no reopening date to announce yet. As the building work moves forward, the next chapter includes seats, sound, access devices, the lobby and concessions.

See the work your support is helping make possible. If you want to help with what comes next, explore the Phase 3 projects and start a conversation about the one that matters to you.
